These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Studlok iOS application (“Studlok,” the “App”). By downloading or using Studlok, you agree to these Terms.
Studlok uses Apple’s Screen Time / Family Controls APIs to lock apps you choose (for example, social media apps) until you complete a Deep Work session or pass a Quiz inside Studlok, at which point the locked apps unlock for a fixed period. There is no way to unlock apps other than completing a session — Studlok is intentionally designed this way, and you should not install it if you want an easy way to bypass it.
Studlok Pro also includes an optional feature that generates quiz questions from course materials you upload, using a third-party AI service. This feature requires signing in and is described further in Sections 3 and 4 below.
You must be able to form a binding contract to use Studlok, and if you are under the age of majority where you live, you should only use Studlok with a parent or guardian’s permission.
Signing in is optional and only required for the AI quiz generation feature — everything else in Studlok works without an account. When you sign in with Apple or Google, you’re responsible for keeping that sign-in method secure; we’re not liable for activity on your account resulting from your failure to do so. We may suspend or terminate an account that we reasonably believe is being used to abuse Studlok or violate these Terms.
You keep ownership of any course material you upload. By uploading it, you grant Studlok a limited license to process, store, and use that material solely to generate quiz questions and provide them back to you — we don’t use it for any other purpose. You confirm that you have the right to upload whatever material you submit (for example, your own notes), and that doing so doesn’t infringe anyone else’s rights.
Quiz questions generated by this feature are produced by an AI model and may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or misworded. They’re meant to support your studying, not replace your own course materials or judgment — don’t treat an AI-generated answer as authoritative without checking it yourself.
Studlok is free to use with a limited number of sessions per day. Studlok Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that removes that daily limit and unlocks the AI quiz generation feature. Subscription options, current pricing, and billing period are shown in the app before you purchase.
Auto-renewal: Studlok Pro subscriptions automatically renew for the same duration and price you agreed to, unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in your device’s Settings → your name → Subscriptions, after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Studlok’s automatic re-locking after a session ends relies on Apple’s DeviceActivityMonitor and local notification systems. We’ve built redundant mechanisms to make this as reliable as possible, but these are Apple platform APIs outside our control, and Apple does not guarantee exact timing for background system events. We don’t promise perfect, instantaneous re-locking in every scenario — we do promise to keep improving reliability as the underlying platform allows.
Don’t use Studlok to try to interfere with, disable, or reverse-engineer Apple’s Screen Time enforcement outside of how the app intends. Don’t upload material you don’t have the right to upload, or try to use the AI quiz generation feature to produce content unrelated to studying or in violation of applicable law. Don’t attempt to access another user’s account or data. Don’t use Studlok in any way that violates applicable law.
Studlok is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We don’t guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly reliable, particularly given its dependence on Apple platform behavior and third-party AI services described above.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Studlok and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
You may stop using Studlok at any time by deleting the app. If you’ve signed in, you can request deletion of your account and associated server-side data as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or discontinue the app or any feature at any time.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continuing to use Studlok after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
